YAYA COMES, DDS

Dr. Yaya Comes has always had a passion for learning and a deep desire to help others. After graduating from Northview High School, she pursued her studies at the University of Detroit Mercy, where she served as president of the Engineering and Science Student Council and conducted cancer research on Bcl2/Bax proteins under Dr. Michelle Andrzejak. From there, she went on to The Ohio State University College of Dentistry—yes, she's a proud Buckeye! At OSU, she had the opportunity to serve as the student team dentist for both Ohio State Athletics and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Since graduating, Dr. Yaya has been recognized as a two-time finalist for "Best Dentist" in Toledo City Paper and was the runner-up for "Best Dentist" in Mature Living Magazine. She has advanced training in Implants, Root Canals, Invisalign, and Veneers, but her true specialty is helping her patients feel comfortable and at ease during their visits. Dr. Yaya is dedicated to breaking the "scary dentist" stereotype by creating personalized treatment plans that truly reflect her patients’ unique needs. By combining old-school values with modern technology, Dr. Yaya offers compassionate care to help you achieve the smile of your dreams. Outside the office, Dr. Yaya enjoys spending time with her high school sweetheart, Jeff, and their two slightly mischievous goldendoodles, Carmen Woody and Stoney Hayes (named after her favorite OSU coach, Woody Hayes). On Saturdays, you’ll often find her and Jeff in line at 5am for their next bottle of allocated bourbon. Dr. Yaya is also a part-time professor at OSU Dental School, where she teaches 3rd and 4th-year dental students alongside her mentor, Dr. James Stone. At Yaya Smiles, Dr. Yaya is all about making you feel cared for, comfortable, and maybe even sharing a laugh or two along the way!

A letter from Timothy R. Fisher, D.D.S.

To My Dental Family and Friends: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot." Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2 There is a lot of meaning in this scripture. Pretty much how I live my life. These past couple of years have been full of joy, tears and many challenges. God has been good with blessing me more then I deserve. Prayers have been answered. This practice was established in 1966. Throughout the years changes have been made, different faces have been seen but the core values have remained the same. As time went on Dr. Stearns the founding dentist retired and Dr. Zouhary followed. I have tried my best to continue the legacy that was built here. I have never taken my responsibilities and the needs of my patients and.staff lightly. You have always been my top priority. But the time has come for me to retire and start my next chapter. I will be retiring as of December 1, 2024. This was the hardest decision I have ever made. Many tears have been shed. But God answered my prayers and showed me it was time. My wife Judy and I have prayed long and hard about finding the right person to respect, love and treat our dental family as we have. We found that person. From the first time we met her we knew she was the one to take ownership of this dental practice. She too has been praying for a place she could call home. We have spent a lot of time getting to know Dr. Yaya Comes and have absolutely no reservations that she will fill my shoes. She was born and raised in Sylvania, Ohio. She Graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She was the team dentist for The OSU athletics and still serves in the Faculty ofThe OSU College of Dentistry. She has won many awards and is very passionate about her dentistry. She lives in Perrysburg with her Husband Jeff and her two beautiful fur babies. I think after you meet her and see her infectious smile you will wonder why I waited so long to retire. Dr. Comes alongside Dr. Freeman and our dedicated staff will make an amazing dynamic team. In closing, I cannot thank each one of you for the love, kindness and support you have shown me over the years. I could never imagine my career in dentistry being as wonderful as it has been without each and everyone of you. You will always remain part of my family, and I will cherish all the memories I have made with you. You made me a better person. Thank you for an amazing journey. Please keep Dr. Comes in your prayers and show her the love and support you have shown me over the years. With you she will continue the legacy we have worked so hard to build. With a Grateful Heart, Dr. Timothy Fisher
